Worth Falling For

Summer’s in full swing, Fam. šŸ˜Ž Let’s build out your soundtrack.

What’s good, NovelliFans?

I’ve got a terrific trio of fresh releases for you this week, plus an honourable mention from last week that I only discovered after I’d wrapped up my previous post.

Ofc, that didn’t stop me from shouting about in on socials, complete with dancing panda GIFs, ’cause it’s just. that. good!

Let’s see if you agree, shall we?

Take Flight

Starting with the aforementioned July 5 release, ā€˜Together Alone’ is the latest offering from melodic bass producer Adam Pearce, who dropped the progressive house stunner ā€˜Champagne Eyes’ with Linney back on May 3.

For his most recent track, Adam has teamed up with producer, vocalist & topliner Daye ā€œto create a piece of art that can help you delve deeper inside your imaginationā€.

Adam’s second track of the year on SLANDER’s label, Heaven Sent, ā€˜Together Alone’ combines airy synths, elegant piano and trippy beats to create a dreamy soundscape that perfectly accentuates Daye’s poignant vocal performance.

Slow burning to a chorus of wubs-y delight, Adam’s production expertly reflects the lyrical exploration of a relationship that won’t be denied & the liberation that can be found in the acceptance of being ā€˜Together Alone’.

If you’re looking for a well-balanced track that builds & breaks without ever letting go of the beat, give ā€˜Together Alone’ a spin (or four ) on your favourite platform now.

Higher and Higher

Our first fresh release this Friday past was from, you guessed it, the unstoppable Sarah de Warren, who has teamed up with not one, but two powerhouse duos — Courtney & Emma of Gem & Tauri and Brian & Kyle of Eyes Everywhere for the melodic house escapade, ā€˜Freefalling’.

Co-written with Seven Lions, Corey Lerue & Wooli — the latter two of whom are also credited as co-producers on the track — ā€˜Freefalling’ is Sarah’s second release of the year on Seven Lions’ label, Ophelia Records, following ā€˜Under Pressure’, her collab with Jason Ross & Kill The Noise, which dropped back in May.

The first release for both Gem & Tauri & Eyes Everywhere in more than a year, ā€˜Freefalling’ pairs Sarah’s versatile vocals with crisp beats, chunky bass and percussive synths to create a track that skilfully encapsulates the feeling of finally finding a love worth falling for.

& while Eyes Everywhere & Gem & Tauri seem to be on different paths re: whether or not the track is a comeback, I for one found it to be a marvellous introduction to them both!

Give ā€˜Freefalling’ a spin wherever you like to listen, and let me know if you feel the same.

Light It Up

In addition to her brand new track, this Friday past also saw SdW’s 2023 melodic house & techno collab with Markus Shulz, ā€˜Light On’ receive the progressive house treatment from Bulgarian ā€œsinger-songwriter, producer, sound engineer, and DJā€ Zoya (who also happens to be classically trained in opera AND piano. )

Co-written with Jordan Cosmo & coming to us on Markus’ label, Coldharbour Recordings, ZOYA’s take on this testament to never giving up on the one(s) you love bumps up the original’s BPM & incorporates glittering melodic lines that border on meditative, especially when paired with Sarah’s exquisite vocals.

Debuted during ZOYA’s set at Black Hole Recordings’ sold-out In Search of Sunset event, held on June 8 at T-Huis in Tilburg, Netherlands, the remix also received the aftermovie music video treatment, featuring footage from the set, which is now available ZOYA’s YouTube channel.

ZOYA has also made the full set available to stream on her Soundcloud, and the description promises a full video version is also coming soon.

If you find yourself feeling lost in the dark, I invite you to give this one a spin & see if Markus, Sarah & ZOYA can turn a ā€˜Light On’ for you.

California Dreaming

Our final featured drop of the week is ā€˜Sweet Summertime’, a delightful collab between L.A. based songwriter, topline vocalist, and frequent Linney co-conspirator Brittany Egbert & London based dance-pop producer Tim Chingos, aka Coppermines.

Coming to us on Coppermines’ new independent label, Within Us Records, ā€˜Sweet Summertime’ was produced by Graeme Knapp, aka Elated*, who took on not only vocal production, but also vocal engineering, mixing and mastering of the track.

Together the trio have created a veritable bop, reminiscent of songs like Katy Perry’s ā€˜California Gurls’ — chalk full of ā€œWest Coast representā€ lyrics, but with a warmer, more eloquent sound & a shift of focus from ā€˜who I am’ to ā€˜who I love’.

If you’re still on the hunt for your ā€œsong of the summerā€, I encourage you to give ā€˜Sweet Summertime’ a listen on your favourite platform now. (& I dare you not to be impressed by Brittany’s buttery vocal riffs. )

*& ICYMI, Brittany & Elated also make up the two halves of the duo, Sea To Sky, who Grant Gilmore at EDM Identity recently referred to as ā€œa match made in melodic house heaven.ā€

Earlier this year the duo released a rapturous cover of the Snow Patrol classic ā€œChasing Carsā€, and according to their recent feature in EDM Identity, they’ve ā€œsigned three tracks to renowned label AVA Recordingsā€ and ā€œare sitting on about 12 more finished tracksā€ many of which you can hear in their EDMID Summer Sessions guest mix, which is available to stream now on Soundcloud.

Whaddya think, Fam?
