The Heat Is On

Don’t go without this week’s featured releases that are sure to set your summer playlist on fire.

NOVELLIFANS!!!

If you’re reading this on the day it goes live, I’m in the midst of enjoying my first ever IRL visit with my absolute best friend in the entire world & as you can imagine the vibes at House Bea are running at an eleventy-seven out of ten.

That said, because I want to devote all my attention to him while he’s here, and because I know that I’m going to need some time to process after he’s gone, I’ll be taking a break from the blog (& social) until after his visit.

This means that there won’t be any new posts here until Tuesday, July 9, and my availability on social will also be limited until then.

I know we’re still a relatively small community, and you may not have even noticed I was ā€˜missing’, nevertheless, I respect your time and attention and didn’t want to leave you hanging.

Before I go tho, I’ve put together a stellar lineup of featured tracks, plus a few bonus mixes to tide you over until my return, so let’s get to it!

No Doubt, So Right

Kickstarting this week’s featured releases is a fresh drop from the Queen herself, Christina Novelli, and LA psytrance producer SUBMERSIVE.

Coming to us on Muse Music Records, ā€˜Together Again’ is a thrilling mix of blistering beats, etheric vocals and wide open breakdowns that graciously give you the chance to catch your breath & rest in the awe of what just happened, before the track takes off like a shot again.

Co-written with Joseph Lawrence, ā€˜Together Again’ serves up another swift yet serene entry in the ā€˜love wins’ category of Christina’s catalogue — think ā€˜We’re Home’ & ā€˜The Air I Breathe’ vs ā€˜Black Hole’ or ā€˜Black Heart’ — & it’s giving all the heat that summer’s been lacking in my neck of the woods. #dancingkeepsmewarm

To celebrate the track’s release, the team at Muse Music Records has put together a spiffy lyric video, which you could easily pop on at your next karaoke night or backyard barbecue — if a group singalong is more your style.

I for one have enjoyed using it during my single song dance parties to learn the words even more quickly than my usual series of repeat plays typically allows.

So whether singing, dancing or simply trancing(?) is your thing, Christina and SUBMERSIVE have you got you covered with a track that def has me hoping they will work ā€˜Together Again’ v. soon. #seewhatididthere

A Trance Dance Paradise

Next up we have our second main floor trance track of the week, coming to us from recent Muse Music Records alum, Spencer Newell, who previously dropped ā€˜A Little More Me’ with Linney on Muse Music Records back on May 24.

Spencer’s new track, ā€˜Gods In Paradise’ is coming to us on Nocturnal Knights, the ā€œall-inclusive 360• music platformā€ and brainchild of the one-and-only Dutch artist RAM.

A collab with Donna Tella, the EDM alias of singer-songwriter and ā€œNashville based Barbie Space Pop artistā€ Alexis Donn, ā€˜Gods In Paradise’ is another vocal trance track that comes racing out the gate and refuses to quit until the final beat is dropped.

Grounding Donna Tella’s unearthly vocals with a deep, thumping bassline that builds to a gravity-defying breakdown, Newell follows this spaciousness with a second build-up that feels like a flat-out race to the song’s spectacular, sparkling finish.

It’s the kind of track that leaves you with that special feeling of satisfaction that only dancing your heart out can achieve, and if my writing isn’t enough to convince you to check it out, maybe the single’s striking cover art will.

Give ā€˜Gods In Paradise’ a spin (or four) on your favourite platform now.

Higher and Higher

The final entry in our trio of featured singles this week is a brand new solo release from California Queen, Linney, co-written with Sarah de Warren & Tensteps (who also co-produced the track) with vocal production and engineering by Jeff Schoeny.

Coming hot on the heels of the TCTS remix of her collab ā€˜Echoes’ with Hektor Mass & ILVS, which dropped on June 7, ā€˜Sequoia’ is Linney’s second solo-release of 2024 and follows in the nature-themed footsteps of her previous solo track ā€˜Daisies’, which was released back on March 29.

A sumptuous electropop reverie coming to us on Helix Records, the v. same label that gave us ā€˜Daisies’ along with Sarah de Warren’s May 31 release ā€˜House of Cards’ with Naeleck & Coopex, ā€˜Sequoia’ is an ode to the strongest & ā€œthird longest-livingā€ trees in the world and the parallel relationships in Linney’s life that these majestic beings represent.

Doubling down on her last solo effort, Linney independently produced & edited a ā€˜Sequoia’ lyric video, which was shot by the track’s vocals producer, engineer (& jack-of-all-trades), Jeff Schoeny, with additional footage of the California landscape provided by Helix Records’ creative director, Lauren Van Der Laan.

Linney even went so far as to hand-write all the lyrics that appear on-screen. #LabourOfLove

Already seeing features on DJSPAWN’s NextPlay 303, Apple Music’s ā€˜New In Dance’ & Spotify’s ā€˜New Music Friday Cratediggers’ playlists, ā€˜Sequoia’ is fantastic follow up to ā€˜Daisies’ and def a track that I’m excited to have in my permanent collection.

If you’re looking for a song to celebrate the steadfast relationships in your life, or an anthem to call those kinds of relationships in, try giving Linney’s new track ā€˜Sequoia’ a spin.

And if that’s not enough Linney to tide you over while I’m gone, np! bc she’s also the extra special mixmaster that I teased at the end of last week’s post!!!

Following the release of her collab ā€˜Obsession’ with Dyro back on June 7, Dim Mak, the label who released the track, invited her to do a guest mix on their iHeartRadio Dim Mak Studios show, which airs every Friday at 8PM ET / 5 PM PT on iHeart Radio Evolution stations across the US.

So you may be wondering, what do we do on a Tuesday almost two weeks later, especially if we’re not in the US? Head on over to Linney’s Soundcloud page, where she’s graciously shared the entire set!!!

(Or if you’re not a Soundcloud fan, it looks like the show is also posted as a weekly-ish podcast, so you should be able to find it on your favourite podcasting platform by searching Dim Mak Studios.)

Featuring tracks from Linney herself (obv), plus Eurythmics, Charli XCX, Gorgon City & more, you’re in for 25 minutes of pure fire, no matter where you like to listen.

Siskin In The Woods

And if you’re STILL looking for even more great music to fill out the next couple of weeks, you’re in luck, Fam, because since we last met, a brand new episode of Voyager Radio has also dropped!!!

Featuring the full set(!!!) from Siskin’s recent reunion at Trance in the Woods, the show is chalk full of Siskin mixes & mashups, plus one extra special Siskin ID (read: an as yet unreleased, aka unIDendtified track).

Ofc, it’s always exciting to hear brand new Siskin & in addition to the ID, my personal faves from the set included the Nora En Pure – ā€˜Freyja’ (Siskin Festival Intro), which they mixed into the Maratone Remix of ā€˜Always You’ + two of the Siskin Mashups: Dark Heart vs tATu – ā€˜Running Through My Dust Heart’ & Tinlicker vs Evanesence – ā€˜Close My Immortal’.

Not to mention, if you listen closely during the final track, you’ll be richly rewarded with the sweet sounds of a delightfully unexpected LIVE duet.

Having been unable to attend the event in person, I’m so thankful that Suzanne chose to include this set in the lead up to her milestone 200th(!!!) episode, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store in the coming months.

What about you, Fam? Are you excited for episode 200? Have you heard Voyager 198 yet? If so, let me know your favourite part(s) down in the comments, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, here’s a[nother] nudge from me to head over to Soundcloud & give it a listen, bc this is def one set you don’t want to miss.

(And once again, if Soundcloud isn’t your jam, a search for Voyager Radio on your favourite podcasting platform should also do the trick.)

That’s it for this week, NovelliFans. I hope you have a magnificent start to your July, and I look forward to seeing you back here on the 9th.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
